The Northwest Territorial Pipe Band carried out a workshop focusing on three specific tunes on 3 October 2026. The focus of the workshop, let by Andrew Bruce (a Professional Piper) was on note structures and timing in Barren Rocks of Aden and Joe McGann's Fiddle. For many of the participants that last tune has been found to be very difficult. The technique of holding and cutting notes was explored in detail including with drummers present. A metronome was used as the tune was deconstructed and a rational/logical approach to overcoming our difficulties was taken. At the end of the session, all present had a newfound appreciation for the tune. One of the drummers even noted that the tune was more "fun" than most of the others.
