Introduction

This page is for the benefit of pipers and drummers.  It provides sheet music, audio files (in basic Midi format) and ABC notation files.  EasyABC is an Open Source program at: https://sourceforge.net/projects/easyabc/ .  We have used it to write the sheet music (i.e. music sheet engraving) and to generate the Midi files.  Midi files are a basic form of audio file and can be played with most music players. If one delves into the history of EasyABC, it was actually developed for the bagpipes and for preserving the music of Bretagne, a Celtic region, in France.  It has been used for complex classical compositions but also for preserving both Scottish and Irish folk tunes.  It is also the basis of a number of commercial music engraving software packages.

Experimental Practising System

The above "button" is an experimental PDF book of tunes which one can flip through to select a tune.  If one clicks on the title of a tune, one is directed to another website.  At that website one can modify the speed of the tune and also activate a metronome.  The transcribing of the music is not perfect and we are open to suggestions to improve it.  

Band Tunes (Based on Repertoire)

The latest Tunes Book can be downloaded in full by clicking on the "button" above.  This is the full repertoire at this time 58 tunes, as listed below.  The Band does not play them all and may not yet have learned them all.  

The tunes in the table above contain all of the tunes in the repertoire in PDF, MIDI and ABC formats.  Band members can select which tunes are current and print out a PDF image.  The PDF pages are all of uniform size although some may be in portrait and some in landscape.  This makes them easier to read.  There may be errors in the sheet music.  If you think there are, please contact Ian.  The MIDI files are basic audio files and should be capable of being played on most systems.  You can always get a converter to change for format to .wav, .mp3, .ogg etc.  The ABC files are just text files and can be read by an ABC program.  You can change the speed in the coding and also the notes.  This is the master file.

There are 7 sets with 19 tunes in total.  One could print out the tunes and put them in a binder in this order, with dividers for each set.
